Reader’s Pulse: What Mobile Web Content Should We Teach?

Last week we ran a poll asking you to weigh in on the mobile development topics we should teach. The majority of voters expressed a strong interest in additional mobile web content, and we plan to deliver! Tell us what mobile web specific topics you’d like to learn about by voting in today’s poll!

Sorry to comment here[I should posted on the previews poll].

Why you guys forget Windows Phone, currently there are only 4 tutorials accounted for wp7 since the site launched roughly 2years and a month. :(

Hey Lawrence, thanks for the feedback. In the past, we haven’t spent much focus on the WP7 SDK for three reasons:

First, we have a limited budget available to commission content with each month, and only 3.2% of our readers have expressed an interest in WP7 SDK tutorials. With so many other mobile development topics competing for attention, it makes it difficult to justify spending a lot of money on something 96.8% of our readers didn’t express an interest in. If interest in the WP7 SDK increases, this could definitely change!

Second, by emphasizing mobile web technologies like JavaScript/jQuery Mobile/CSS and cross-platform SDKs like PhoneGap, our content is actually still completely relevant to WP7 developers in addition to Android, iOS, and even Blackberry developers. So, we’ve decided to place our stake in mobile/cross-platform in order to reach the widest audience while still producing SDK specific content for the more popular topics.

Finally, It’s actually a bit more difficult to find talented WP7 SDK writers interested in publishing on the site than it is Android or iOS. In the past, this was one of the reasons I wasn’t able to publish more consistently in this content area.

Notwithstanding any of the above, I actually haven’t given up on WP7 SDK content. In fact, right now I have a first draft of a WP7 SDK tutorial on creating an incredibly stylish clock application. My hope is that I’ll be able to publish this piece within the next 30 days, and I plan on publishing a new WP7 SDK tutorial about once every 40 – 60 days. I know that isn’t much if all you code is WP7 apps, but hopefully you’ll still find some of our Android, iOS, and especially mobile web content relevant to your career.

    Best Regards,
    Mark Hammonds

Thanks Mark! I think it will be very valuable content for all of us who develop apps with JQMobile and Phonegap/Xcode.
I can’t wait for a video tutorial or written articles with included demos.

I second with Serg and it is not easy to find comprehensive tutorial on PhoneGap/ xcode/HTML5/CSS/JavaScript including jQuery. Will I find it here on mobile tuts plus?
